Product Overview:
The CIM Sport is the latest innovation in high performance planetary gearboxes from BaneBots and AndyMark. The CIM Sport features numerous improvements over previous planetary gearboxes used on FIRST Robotics Competition robots.

Due to the size and quality of these American made, cold formed, steel gears in addition to the specifically selected available ratios, we are confident in guaranteeing these gearboxes will not fail in competition.*
The cold formed steel gears inside this gearbox are a 0.7 Module tooth profile which is 40% larger than the vast majority of planetary gearbox gears previously used on competition robots. The gears are larger, but the housing's size has been optimized to not use any unnecessary material. This means you get more reliability without sacrificing precious space. This housing is also one solid piece of aluminium, ensuring that there is no possibility for misalignment of the stages during assembly or during the rigors of match play.
Three stage versions of these gearboxes also feature an "HD" stage, with gears approximately double the face width of the other stages as well as a strengthened carrier plate. These larger gears on the output stage ensure that it will handle heavy or cantilevered loads without worry. The carrier plates are made of hardened 4140 steel and interface to the output shaft with a robust hex bore.
A free packet of red tacky grease (am-2768) is included with every gearbox purchased. This grease must be used to coat every internal surface of the gearbox before use.
The CIM Sport includes mounting hardware to attach any CIM style motor or gearbox. To install one of these motors, press on the included pinion gear using an arbor press. This press fit ensures a solid mechanical connection between the pinion gear and the motor. This pinion assembly is not susceptible to vibration, and never needs to be checked once installed. All ratios of the CIM Sport Gearboxes use a 4:1 input stage, with the same tooth count pinion, so motors and gearboxes can be switched out with ease.
The CIM Sport also includes an optional alternative short back block (am-3769). This can be used to shorten any ratio of the gearbox by 0.92 in. and lighten it by 0.23lb. To use this back block the CIM output shaft must be cut down by 0.92 in. and the pinion pressed onto this shortened shaft. *When paired with a CIM, or MiniCIM and powered through an FRC legal control system during a competition. If you do experience a failure under these conditions, with an unmodified, properly greased gearbox, please let us know by emailing documentation to support@andymark.com and we will gladly send out a replacement or a store credit. Modifications include but are not limited to using optional accessories that require disassembly of the gearbox and are not identical replacement parts.
